Inspired by the chroma-centric work of artists Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett, Milan-based architect Ferruccio Laviani created Pigmenti: ultra-thin porcelain tiles that leverage Lea Ceramiche’s Slimtech process. A layered application of pigment creates depth while the supremely matte surface accentuates the hue. “Color itself is like a material that penetrates the slab, becoming an integral part of it,” Laviani explains. The tile’s 3.5 mm thickness suits it to a wide array of applications—from interior and exterior wall cladding to furniture. Pigmenti is available in 12 colors and five sizes up to 40 by 118 inches.
